How to access old BMSID

What is BMS ID?

Business Management Software (BMS) ID is a unqiue ID issued by the payroll software. It acts like a serial number to identify the payroll system that is sending the data to the ATO. The ATO uses the BMS ID in combination with the business ABN, branch code and employee payroll ID to publish the payroll data in the employee's income statements.

How to access BMS ID

If the BMS ID is not readily displayed in the old payroll software or if you don't have access to the old payroll software, you can log on to the ATO's business portal (if you are tax or BAS agent, you can log on to the ATO's portal) and follow the below steps to access the BMS ID:

1. Once you login, go to Employees option in the menu, then click on STP reporting.

2. You should see a list of all STP submissions from the old payroll software. Select any one of the submissions, and click on the down arrow to expand the row.

3. Once the row is expanded, you should see the BMS ID.
